Easter is upon us!

This weeks ‘News from the Mews’

What a hectic two weeks! So much news to impart, where do we start?

Mothering Sunday, the Park had an amazing lot of visitors enjoying both the surroundings and our wonderful Café, excellent reviews received so we’re happy all round. Did you visit? Maybe you could give us your feedback too?

Random acts of vandalism!

For every positive it seems there must be a negative, we are disgusted to report that we have suffered not one, but two acts of vandalism – the first attack was the complete destruction of our hard worked for saplings, the second the desecration of our green of daffodils.

We are more than fortunate to have such a great team of supporters and WILL have these replaced and replanted as soon as we have them. Any information on these heinous acts would be helpful in the extreme. CCTV is obviously now a subject of discussion.

Track maintenance

Littlehampton Miniature Railway have been working hard, as ever, with several track days undertaking essential maintenance work and preparing for the coming Spring/Summer season – if the Beast of the East ever leaves us alone.

#CancerWiseRocks – join the fun and raise valuable funds for charity

The Café are delighted to have teamed up with the rapidly growing #Cancerwise Rocks group – pop over to our Facebook page for details of the upcoming Easter collaboration, a hugely worthwhile charity utilising the latest craze.

Upcoming news & events

Mewsbrook has plenty of up and coming events – the next one being this Saturday (24th March) where we will see members of Worthing Astronomers on hand with a selection of telescopes to show you, weather permitting, some of the amazing sites in the night sky.

Following on is our Easter Sunday Funday – details to follow but save the date!

That’s about it for now, we hope to see you all soon.

The Beast from the East

We remain unbeaten!

What a week, the Beast from the East made his presence very well known didn’t he! Mewsbrook Park Cafe, for the first time in history, had to close it’s doors early on two consecutive days, our customers have been, as always, incredibly supportive.

The plus side of the Beast was how very beautiful he made the park look, cloaked in the whitest of snow. All thawed now though and hopefully Spring is just around the corner.

Despite the wicked weather, Mewsbrook has been a hive of activity, we’ve seen essential track works done on The Littlehampton Miniature Railway – their volunteers really are the best in keeping our heritage alive.

We’ve welcomed the new craze of rock hiding…. This ingenious idea follows on from the popular geo-caching, basically rocks are decorated (we’ve seen some stunners) and hidden in locations around the country, once discovered it is protocol for the finder to take a picture of him/her self with said rock and post on social media before either returning the rock to it’s original place or taking to hide elsewhere. For more information see the Facebook group #CancerWiseRocks – there are links on our page https://www.facebook.com/mewsbrookparkcafe/

Sad news from our wonderful community organisation Friends of Mewsbrook Park – the carefully planted trees have, disgustingly, been destroyed by mindless vandals. We are all obviously devastated by this. We will be working as a team to out things right – any help would be gratefully received.

Our special offer for all you lovely email subscribers is buy one get on free on our breakfast menu – available throughout March upon production of a screenshot of this part of the newsletter.

That’s the News from the Mews!

The News from the Mews!

The News from the Mews!

What a super cold week! Have you been affected by the ‘Beast from the East’?

Despite the weather our Park has been a hive of activity! We’ve seen the lake having it’s regular survey – it certainly panicked some of regulars but rest assured it will be back to it’s usual glory this weekend, and in plenty of time for the re-opening of our pedalo hire in the Spring.

The Littlehampton Miniature Railway Association have, as always, been doing maintenance work on their tracks, the guys are a voluntary organisation and their work is essential to maintain our heritage. They will always welcome new volunteers!

Our Cafes February email subscription welcome offer has been hugely popular – look out for regular offers via the newsletter, and, if you know someone who may benefit then please pass the details onto them.

The latest from Mewsbrook

What a busy week here at Mewsbrook, Littlehampton.

We have hit on a winner with the introduction of our new range of gluten free cake, it seems we should have investigated far earlier – what allergies do you have? Is there anything else you would like to see us source for the menu? Do get in touch!

Our half price fish and chip Friday offer went down a storm, it’s something I’m sure we will be repeating in the future.

We have had some great new Google reviews, thank you all – keep them coming!

We were delighted to be involved with the Friends of Mewsbrook Parks ‘Big Bird Watch’ at the weekend, lots of people attended and it was a very informative event. It was lovely that so many of you stayed behind for a coffee and natter at our Café.

In other Park news – Arun Parks & Greenspaces are carrying out some valuable studies into our lake, this is routine and ensures that it continues to function as it should. The levels have now been lowered for further inspection and any work necessary will be carried out prior to nesting season.

Please keep a check on our Facebook page for upcoming events including Littlehampton’s Miniature Railways Open Day this Saturday (3rd February) closely followed by their half-term railway offer – which includes our half-price kids’ menu upon production of a valid ticket.

As always, please subscribe to our newsletter via the  website our current offer for new members is 15% off the main menu price when a screenshot of the welcome email is shown to our staff.

Until the next time…..

Another busy but rewarding week at Mewsbrook!

What an excellent week at Mewsbrook – despite the dreadful weather!

Welcome to our first newsletter!

We saw the launch of our new website, many thanks to Gift of the Gab (who are now in the process of building a new one for themselves – please keep an eye out).

To celebrate the launch, and to include more of you in the community, we are offering a special ‘Fish & Chip Friday’ this week (26th January) when you subscribe to our newsletter (form to the right).

You will then receive regular ramblings giving you special discounts and offers (we won’t pass your details to anyone else).

In other news, we have once again used the wonderful Lizzies Food Factory for some more scrummy, homemade cakes.

This time we have plumped for a gluten free option and are offering cake and a cuppa (tea or coffee) for £3.20, you can add 30p to get a specialist coffee. With a choice of rich chocolate or traditional Victoria sponge, come and try – your feedback would be appreciated too.

You’ll have no doubt seen in the recent news, the debate over recycling, we’re joining the ‘for’ team and are making sure that all our take-away boxes/cups etc are completely eco-friendly.

An update on our wonderful Friends of Mewsbrook Park team (keep up to speed with them via their Facebook page). FOMP are still actively looking for more members to join their ever-growing team.

Working on a volunteer only basis, FOMP maintain the beauty of our Park and surroundings, giving up some much of their valuable spare time. As a thank you (and incentive in the horrible weather), we at the café are offering membership discounts to every new sign up.

There’s so much more to say but I’m conscious of rambling on so will leave it there – oh, one last ting, we are receiving some wonderful reviews on our Google Page – more are, of course always welcome………

Until next time!
